FLOCK

An enchanting original fairy-tale about taking flight.

Set in the early 20th Century, the tale starts with a remarkable and courageous women called Zeba; the founder and headmistress of a school for girls in Tabriz. Zeba is angered by the corruption she sees around her and is desperate to see change in Iran. A lover of poetry and a believer in magic, Zeba embarks on a magical journey to the Caspian Sea to the find the answers to her quest.

Her journey, however, is interrupted by a chance meeting with a magical creature called Omeed and, in return for her freedom, Omeed gives Zeba, three children - Farjad, Shaheen and Tannaz; children who in turn embark on their own journeys to find their purpose and bring change to Iran.

FLOCK is a piece that crosses borders of time and place. Inspired by the Arab Uprisings of 2011 and the ancient Persian poem The Conference of the Birds, the story been shaped by the experiences of the many people we have worked with here in the North East.
